i don't care about the election, really. there was a time, perhaps, when i thought such things actually mattered. but at 23, i'm slightly less inclined to think mere humans can effect the Master Plan. to be sure, there will be grand fun on 5 november 2008. if the democrats win, the republicans will be pissed, and i'll have all the more reason not to like the world or its ways. if the republicans somehow retain power, the democrats will be fuming, and general hilarity will ensue. either way, i'll be laughing.

there are far too many people on the fringe at the left and on the fringe at the right for me to worry; they cancel each other out. congress and the senate basically ensure nothing too radical will ever fly, whether it's in the interest of party A or party B. after four years of whining, squabbling, and wasting taxpayer money, we'll (wipe hands on pants and) repeat the process. america didn't save the world when it was created; it never has; it will never be able to. neither did the roman empire, for that matter. every civilization that tries to "change humanity" or rule with absolute power inevitably fails. this is because God is sovereign. and beautiful. did i mention beautiful?

"
I think God is just like my flash, only it lasts only a second and He lasts always."
- Emily of New Moon, Montgomery, 1923

"Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his Word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." - Psalm 107:19-20
